Arabær Holiday Homes
Whilst some tours and organised holidays choose mainstream hotel chains, I have discovered traditional accommodation is much better. Being slightly more remote means that you get to see the Northern Lights from the accommodation (the picture above is a good example of one of the smaller 'outhouses' - we will be staying in the larger ones!).
Arabaer is a group of traditional converted 'outhouses' on a working Icelandic farm with horses, located 16 miles from Selfoss. It includes free WiFi access, a fully equipped kitchen and terrace with mountain views.
The accommodation includes a sofa and a TV with DVD player feature in the living room at Arabær Holiday Home. The apartment has a dining table and a private bathroom with shower.
BBQ facilities are available for guests’ use, weather permitting. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including horse riding, fishing and hiking. Reykjavik city center is 50 mi away.
Please note:
This is shared accommodation. Whilst you will have your own private bedroom the rest is shared with the other members of the group on the tour. This is much better for the camaraderie and group editing of pictures and to hold informal photographic workshops.
This is self-catering. When we are out during the day we will make stop-offs for food and we will go to the local supermarket for provisions. We can either cook together or separately, depending on the groups needs.
